“This work recommends the adoption of management processes that are participatory, iterative, adaptive and flexible. Participatory means that the community affected should play a central role in management planning and implementation (Section 6.2). Iterative means that management is conceived of as a cyclical, not a linear exercise, with feedback loops. Adaptive means that learning is built into the process and management adapts to lessons learnt. Flexible means that management planning has to  take account of a huge variety of national and local circumstances – and any advice given here must therefore not be regarded as prescriptive but as general guidance for adaptation to particular circumstances". Fonte: o autor
